Onshore wind projects supporting national renewable-energy goals continue to scale across Europe, especially in countries aiming to accelerate clean-power generation by 2030. GE Vernova Inc. will supply, install and commission 42 of its 6.1 MW–158m turbines for Greenvolt Power’s Gurbanesti wind farm in Călărași county, Romania, strengthening the region’s wind-energy portfolio.
This agreement follows GE Vernova’s earlier announcement to deploy an identical set of 42 turbines for the Ialomița wind farm. Together, the two sites will deliver approximately 500 MW of capacity, demonstrating how large-scale onshore wind solutions can support Romania’s long-term plan to increase renewable production.
The Gurbanesti order was recorded in Q4 2025, with turbine deliveries scheduled to begin in 2026. The project also expands Greenvolt’s footprint across Europe, adding substantial wind capacity to its portfolio. During peak construction, the farms will support hundreds of full-time jobs and generate electricity equivalent to the needs of more than 110,000 Romanian homes annually.
According to Gilan Sabatier, Chief Commercial Officer for GE Vernova’s Onshore Wind business in International Markets, the project reinforces the benefits created by GE Vernova’s workhorse turbine platform and highlights ongoing collaboration with Greenvolt to expand renewable energy in Romania and beyond.
GE Vernova currently operates a global installed base of around 57,000 turbines with nearly 120 GW of combined capacity. Its next-generation onshore wind technology continues to support decarbonization through scalable, efficient and cost-effective renewable-energy solutions.
