AIMPLAS Biopolymers Seminar Highlights Innovation, Industry and Regulation

The ninth edition of AIMPLAS’ International Seminar on Biopolymers and Sustainable Composites will take place on 4–5 March 2026 in Valencia, bringing together around twenty leading international specialists to address the most relevant technological, industrial and regulatory developments shaping the future of the sector.

Organised by AIMPLAS, the Plastics Technology Centre, the seminar has become a benchmark event for professionals working with bioplastics and sustainable composites. The programme will focus on advanced biopolymers, sustainable composite materials, industrially proven applications and evolving regulatory frameworks, all within the context of the circular economy.

Across six thematic sessions, speakers from research institutions, technology centres and industry will present the latest R&D&I advances alongside solutions already being implemented at industrial scale. Topics range from the European bioplastics market outlook and biodegradability challenges, to certification schemes, bio-based raw materials, compostability protocols and applications in agriculture and open environments.

In addition to the technical programme, the seminar will feature networking areas, an exhibitors’ space and a poster session, as well as a dedicated area showcasing real demonstrators made from biomass-based materials. These include products such as coasters, plant sapling protectors, agricultural items and innovative wine packaging developed from by-products of the wine and olive industries, highlighting the tangible potential of biopolymers and sustainable composites across multiple sectors.

The event is supported by sponsors including BASF, NOVAMONT, COLUMBUS INSTRUMENTS, ARCHA, ASOBIOCOM, DIN CERTCO, ENCO and NUREL, reinforcing the seminar’s role as a key European meeting point for innovation, sustainability and technology transfer in bioplastics.
