FORVIA Expands Role in Hydrogen Transport Systems
A new partnership framework with H2 Energy combines certified storage technology, MEGC assembly, and real-world operational know-how to support scalable hydrogen mobility infrastructure.

Hydrogen mobility and refueling infrastructure require certified storage systems capable of safely transporting large volumes of compressed hydrogen. Multiple Element Gas Containers (MEGCs) play a central role in supplying hydrogen to filling stations, industrial users, and heavy-duty vehicle fleets. To support the scaling of this ecosystem, FORVIA and H2 Energy have expanded their collaboration to integrate manufacturing, certification, and operational expertise into a unified hydrogen transport solution.
Integrated Manufacturing for MEGC Hydrogen Transport Units
The collaboration extends FORVIA’s role beyond supplying its certified 38 MPa composite Type III hydrogen cylinders. The company will now also handle end-to-end assembly of the complete MEGC units, integrating cylinders, piping, and structural elements into a fully assembled transport module. Production is planned to begin at the end of 2025.
The MEGC system recently obtained ADR certification, the European regulatory framework governing the safe road transport of hazardous materials, including compressed hydrogen. This certification confirms compliance with structural integrity, safety testing, and operational requirements for road vehicles across EU member states. The composite cylinders used within the MEGC units had previously received TPED certification in May 2025, confirming their suitability as transportable pressure equipment under European regulation.
Operational Validation Through Switzerland’s Hydrogen Ecosystem
The MEGC technology is already in daily service within H2 Energy’s Swiss hydrogen ecosystem, operated through its subsidiary Hydrospider. More than 30 MEGC containers are currently used to deliver green hydrogen to 18 Hydrogen Refueling Stations (HRS) across Switzerland. These stations collectively support a daily consumption of up to 1,000 kg of hydrogen, used by Hyundai heavy-duty trucks and other hydrogen vehicle fleets.
This operational base demonstrates the readiness and service life of the MEGC system under real conditions. Continuous daily deployment, combined with Switzerland’s national hydrogen logistics network, provides practical validation of cylinder durability, filling-cycle reliability, and transport efficiency. The long-term field experience strengthens the technical foundation of the renewed partnership between FORVIA and H2 Energy.
Scaling Infrastructure Through Combined Expertise
By combining FORVIA’s manufacturing capability with H2 Energy’s operational experience, the partnership aims to streamline MEGC supply for hydrogen mobility projects. FORVIA’s established industrial processes support consistent assembly quality, while H2 Energy contributes integration know-how rooted in multi-year ecosystem operations. The extended collaboration is intended to simplify the deployment of hydrogen supply chains and provide a standardized, certified transport solution that can be replicated in new markets.
The partnership brings together optimized composite cylinders, compliant MEGC design, and proven logistical workflows, forming a transport solution aligned with European hydrogen expansion strategies. As demand for green hydrogen grows, integrated manufacturing and operational experience are positioned to reduce deployment complexity for future mobility and refueling projects.
